BARANGAROO RESERVE

Barangaroo Reserve is a symbol of the wider precinct’s transformation from a former industrial wharf to a spectacular harbourside precinct. The international award-winning Reserve recreates a headland that existed before the arrival of Sydney’s first europeans. Our people managed the planning, design and construction process, complex titling, services and easement adjustments and town planning to support the “Central” precinct and station development. We successfully directed two well attended public events, Construction Open Day and official Grand Opening.

KEY CHALLENGES

// The sandstone program; block excavation, processing and GPS placement of over 3000 blocks, to align with the design.

// Installing 120no. 40m long Super-T’s to create The Cutaway, a sensational 750,000m3 subterranean event space and 2 level carpark with a 120m column-free area. This is an engineering masterpiece - one of the largest internal spaces in Australia, sheltered under 12,000m3 of rock, native grass and mature trees.

// Demolishing of the defunct former maritime Harbour Control Tower, following unsuccessful attempts at repurposing.
